Strategy and Approach
I worked with our project manager to conducted content audits and held client interviews to clarify priorities and user needs. The visual direction emphasized clarity, a modern grid-based layout, and a regional tone that reinforced Middlesex’s brand identity. The new site architecture prioritized quick access to community information and key resources, including sector data, contact details, business park listings, real estate availability, and demographic insights.

Design Direction
Key features included:
Hero visuals and video showcasing local industries and landmarks
Clean, accessible typography and a color palette that conveyed trust and professionalism
Responsive layouts optimized for mobile and tablet
Downloadable resources, event listings, and location highlights
Third-party integrations for mapping, data display, and content updates
Fully accessibility compliant design and content structure

Collaboration and Process
I collaborated closely with our project manager and developers to ensure smooth handoff and accurate implementation. The process included iterative design reviews and user testing to refine usability and visual impact.
Outcome and Impact
The new website improved usability, simplified content management, and positioned Middlesex as a center of opportunity. Engagement data showed increased visitor interaction and improved clarity of information.
The project was honored with the 2016 EDCO Website Award for excellence in economic development communications.

Reflection
This project expanded my expertise in designing public sector websites with accessibility, branding consistency, and content-rich layouts. It also strengthened my collaboration skills with government stakeholders and refined my ability to hand off developer-ready design documentation.
